WHAT IS LIP BLUSHING?

This treatment is provided by depositing pigment into the lips, which builds layers of color using a special permanent makeup machine pen. Lip blushing enhances your natural lip color and shape. This technique delivers very natural results once healed.

HOW LONG WILL MY LIPS LOOK THIS GOOD?

Lip blushing treatments are considered semi-permanent and will look great for two to four years, dependent on lip genetics, lifestyle, and skin type.

WILL LIP BLUSHING WORK WELL FOR ME?

  • Are you interested in saving time in your daily beauty routine?
  • Perfect for ALL skin types.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

One session is all that is needed. A touchup may be necessary if the treatment does not yield ANY results (does not hold pigment). Please see our Lip Blushing Touchup Policy here.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

The entire procedure takes about 1.5 to 2 hours (including consultation).

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Unfortunately, not everyone is a good candidate for semi-permanent makeup. It is not recommended for any clients who are or have:

  • Glaucoma and those who are taking blood thinning medicines (e.g. Aspirin)
  • Chemotherapy and Other Cancer Treatments (please consult your doctor)
  • Diabetic (please consult your doctor)

  • Juvaderm or other “fillers” in the past 4 weeks.
  • Shingles (Varicella): If you have shingles on your face, please wait several months to get semi-permanent makeup.

WHAT FACTORS WILL AFFECT MY COSMETIC TATTOO?

  • Following the aftercare instructions are a MUST!
  • Susceptibility to cold sores. Please read about how to safeguard yourself from developing cold sores here.
  • The regrowth of skin cells: The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds.
  • The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold.
  • The selection of color: Some color fade quicker than others.
  • The location of therapy: Enhancements to the face, as an example, fade faster as a result of constant direct exposure to UV rays.
  • Bleeding throughout the procedure: Any bleeding during the tattooing treatment will lower the amount of pigment absorption.
  • Alcohol as well as particular medications work as blood-thinners and must not be taken a day or two before and after your lip blushing procedure.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO GET TATTOOED?

You must be 18 years or older to receive a tattoo service at LoAnn’s Brow Art Studio.  If you are under the age of 18, please have a parent/legal guardian contact us on Facebook or Instagram for more information.

CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I AM PREGNANT OR NURSING?

As a safety precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

WHAT SHOULD I DO PRIOR TO MY LIP BLUSHING TREATMENT?

Please read our Pre-Care Instructions by clicking here.

HOW WILL I LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTER? WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

Your lips will be a bit swollen and the color will be bolder than expected for the first couple days. The color will slowly lighten during the full healing process. Click here to learn more about the healing process.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

Please read our Post-Care Instructions by clicking here. It is highly beneficial to follow these instructions to ensure a comfortable healing process and to achieve the best results.

HOW WILL MY LIPS LOOK IN THE FUTURE?

During your visit, we will mix pigments to ensure we achieve the desired lip color (feel free to bring your favorite lipstick as a reference!). Most of our clients’ desired lip shade will stay true to the color 2-4 years (length of time depends on the individual’s lifestyle, skin type, genetics, and iron deficiencies). Over time, the color will naturally fade, so to keep your lips looking their best, a touchup/refresh treatment is recommended every 1-2 years. It is important to remember that results will vary from client to client.

IS THE STUDIO AND EQUIPMENT SAFE?

Yes, we pride ourselves in having state-of-the-art equipment, as well as a safe and sterile studio space. We only use single-use, disposable needles, and supplies. After every client, all needles are discarded safely and stations are thoroughly disinfected.

Pre-Care Instructions

(How to Prepare for Your Lip Blushing Appointment)

PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW BEFORE COMING FOR YOUR LIP BLUSHING TATTOO APPOINTMENT

Pre-care for Lips:

  •   Please exfoliate your lips 4 days before your appointment day with sugar scrub, and please apply Aquaphor or Vaseline every night before the appointment day.
  • Please avoid alcohol, certain food or drink, and medications act as blood-thinners, and should avoided 48 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Please NO lips injection at least 3 months before the lips tattoo appointment, but you can get it done in 2 weeks after the procedure day.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, you will need to start taking an anti-viral prescription (Valacyclovir, Denavir(penciclovir), Valtrex or acyclovir (Zovirax)] right after your lips blushing appointment.
  • Cold sore outbreaks are often triggered by stress or trauma to the lips and skin. Therefore if you are a carrier, lip blush will likely cause an outbreak if you do not take an anti-viral medication prior. This is because cold sores will effect the healing/results and can even lead to scarring. So please do not skip this step.

*Please note: not everyone get lips done will have coldsore, but we just want to be sure. And if you are confident on yourself that you won’t get it, then when you come on your appointment day, you can just sign the waver if you don’t want to take the medication
